Located in Kilbrew Co.Meath close to Ashbourne, Ireland’s first theme park ‘Tayto Park’ opened in 2010 and is a theme park and zoo combined together featuring Mr Tayto – the famous little potato man stamped on the packets of the nation’s much loved Tayto Crisps.
The theme park has over 100 attractions including Sky Walk, Air Race, 5D Cinema and the newest addition to the family the ‘Cú Chulainn’ Roller coaster, Europe’s largest wooden roller coaster. It was named after ‘Cú Chulainn’ a great Irish warrior. The roller coaster’s key attention is on the Irish mythological history.
Eagle’s Nest is a section of the theme park perfectly suited for the little ones including parks and ‘teacups & saucers’ whilst Eagle Sky Adventure Zone is perfect for the big kids and the ‘Big Kids at heart’.
You can also take a self-guided tour of how Tayto crisps are created. Suitable for all ages the tour offers guests an insight into the production of Tayto Crisp’s from start to finish through screening glass windows. You’ll be craving a crisp sandwich with your picnic by the end of this tour!
Be sure to set aside some time of your Tayto Park Trip to experience the wonderful animals the zoo homes. Some of the zoo animals you will find here include Red Bellied Tamarins, Squirrel Monkey, the latest addition to the zoo family the Geoldi’s Monkey and of course the remarkable creatures – Meerkats.
Tayto Park is easily accessible with Bus Eireann running a bus once a day and twice a day on weekends from Dublin City Centre.
The bus trip lasts approx. 45 minutes to Tayto Park from the City Centre. The theme park also offers car parking facilities if you are travelling by car.
