With a strong source to fork ethos instilled in Cork, you can be guaranteed that you will more likely travelled further than your food, when you eat in Cork.

The English Market

Located on the Grand Parade in Cork, The English Market is the oldest indoor market in Europe. It has been operating continuously as a food market since 1788. The English Market is home to some of the best food suppliers in Cork, with local delicacies like Tripe, Drisheen, Bodice, White and Black Pudding popular with the locals. You will be spoilt for choice with some amazing bakeries, butchers, cheese and fish mongers located in the market. The English Market is the perfect place to buy a few items for a picnic.

The Marina Market

Located in the former Ford Assembly Plant in the Cork Docklands. Open everyday 8am – 8pm, the Marina Market is home of a fabulous array of food stalls throughout the week. Every Saturday and Sunday it becomes the home of the local craft and farmer’s market. Make sure to keep an eye on their website, as they host many events in their events space throughout the year including seasonal events and concerts.

The Black Market

A short walk from Páirc Uí Chaoimh and The Marina Park, The Black Market is the perfect place to get a bite to eat after a walk in the new Marina Park in the Cork Docklands. The market’s mission is to improve their community at every turn, provide a safe space for everyone and encourage everything that is “different”.

The Boatyard Market, Cobh

One of the newest of food experiences in Cork, located, as the name suggests, in a former boatyard in Cobh. This container food market has some scenic views of Cork Harbour and is the perfect place to meet up with friends for some great food and conversation. While here, why not take the time to explore the historic town of Cobh and Spike Island. To find out more about this amazing market, click here.

Farmer’s Markets

As previously mentioned, wherever you turn in Cork you are surrounded by food. This is particularly true when it comes to Farmer’s markets, there are weekly markets in most towns and villages, around the county. These markets are a great opportunity to meet suppliers and try some amazing food. In Cork city, markets take place in Wilton every Tuesday, Mahon every Thursday and Douglas every Saturday. If you are travelling further afield in Cork, we highly recommend paying a visit to Kinsale Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays, Clonakilty Farmer’s Market on Fridays and Skibbereen Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.
