London is a city that you can visit time and again with hundreds of attractions to suit all tastes. Iconic sights include Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and the London Eye.

Westminster Abbey and Big Ben

If you are interested in exploring the history and architecture of a wonderful European city then London is the destination for you. In central London you will find Westminster Abbey which is steeped in history over the centuries. It houses a plethora of paintings, stained class, textiles and artefacts and is also the burial ground and commemoration area for some of the most significant people in England’s history. Big Ben is the Houses of Parliament’s clock tower and another iconic landmark near Westminster Abbey. The clock tower is known as Elizabeth Tower with Big Ben being the name given to the giant bell that is located within the tower. If you’re planning on visiting Big Ben then consider doing so at night – the 4 clock faces are lit up and the tower looks fantastic.

The London Eye

Located just across the river in Southbank is the London Eye which is the perfect place to go if you want a full birds-eye view of the capital. It takes roughly 30 minutes for the wheel to turn and gives you a full 360 view of all the iconic landmarks that London has to offer. It’s particularly beautiful during sunset or at night time when you can see Westminster Abbey and Big Ben lit up across the river.

Other landmarks which are steeped in history include Tower of London which is home to her majesty’s Crown Jewels which is on display for visitors to see.

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is also a popular attraction for tourists in London and is one of the few working royal palaces which are seen today. HM The Queen takes up residence here. If you’re planning a visit, then best to plan at the changing of the guards which is a huge tourist draw to the area. This happens daily at 11.00am.

Theme Parks

Visiting London with family? There are a range of activities available to keep the young ones entertained. Thorpe Park is 20 miles outside of London and houses some of the biggest roller coasters that Europe has to offer. This theme park is perfect for older kids and adrenalin junkie adults – it is the perfect thrill for your break in London.

Legoland is more suited to all ages and is located less than an hour via rail from the centre of London. There are over 50 interactive rides which are geared towards children aged between 2 and 12 years old. It’s a unique theme park and perfect for all Lego lovers out there.
