Sporting Venues in Limerick

National and International sporting events take place take place all year round creating an electrifying buzz from Thomond Park, the home of Munster Rugby, to the Limerick Greyhound Stadium.

Thomond Park

Thomond Park, home to Ireland’s most iconic rugby team (Munster Rugby) and hosts a number of test and championship matches throughout the year. Munster Rugby is an institution in Limerick, with sports fans flocking from all over Ireland to experience the electric atmosphere of a home game in Thomand Park.

Thomand Park underwent significant redevelopments in recent years with their opening night playing host to Munster v All Blacks in 2008. Since then, Thomond Park has hosted a range of events that has truly established the stadium as a world class multi – purpose venue.

The increased capacity has also allowed record levels of supporters to attend Munster Rugby matches. If you’re in Limerick for a Munster game, then it’s well worth taking a trip to Thomand Park to soak up the atmosphere.

Limerick Greyhound Stadium

Limerick Greyhound Stadium is a state of the art facility, designed to ensure that everyone has a great night out. Whether you feel like a light meal and a few drinks in the bar or a 4 course dinner in the superb restaurant, Limerick Greyhound Stadium caters for all needs. The night isn’t over when the racing ends as the stadium is known for offering musical entertainment to keep the party going long into the night.

Limerick Racecourse

Limerick Racecourse is situated just outside the city and the modern facility is clearly visible from the N20 motorway. In use all year long it’s best known for being a festival spot during summer evenings where live music can be heard for miles. The racecourse is also host to the annual 4-day Christmas festival which runs from Stephen’s Day.  Its biggest ‘stand-alone’ meeting is the Munster National Day in mid-October which features the €100,000 Munster National Handicap Chase.
