This is one of the largest and most historically significant megalithic sites in Europe: the tombs are older than the Egyptian Pyramids and predate New Grange by around 700 years.
Discover the history of the site in the informative visitor’s centre (open March – October). Over 60 tombs have been discovered at Carrowmore and 30 are open to the public – be sure to wear sturdy footwear as the ground is a little uneven.
