University Concert Hall
The University of Limerick was established in 1972, becoming one of the most distinctive, pioneering and connected universities in Ireland. It shapes the future of many through educating people with fantastic facilities in education, recreation and research. The University is situated on an expansive campus located on the River Shannon, within a ten minute drive of Clayton Hotel Limerick. The University of Limerick houses the University Sports Arena and the University Concert Hall on campus.
The University Concert Hall is a 1,038 seat auditorium which throughout the years has hosted a great number of famous names in entertainment and prestigious choir and orchestra ensembles. The university concert hall was the first purpose built concert hall in Ireland. Shows at the concert hall range from full orchestral classical performances, opera, to stand-up comedy and panto. Since its opening it has hosted some of the biggest names including James Taylor, Billy Connolly, Jimmy Carr, Christy Moore, the RTE National Symphony Orchestra to name but a few.
We are located just a short 20 minute drive to the University of Limerick or 35 minutes on the bus. If driving by car the following are directions:
Head east on Steamboat Quay and turn left onto the Dock Road/N69. At Shannonbridge Roundabout, continue straight onto The Bishops Quay, Howleys Quay and onto Arthurs Quay/R445 where you turn right. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and at the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto Plassey Park Road. Turn left, at the roundabout take the first exit and you are in the University of Limerick Campus.
Alternatively, you can walk 10 minutes to bus top on Barrington St (Car Park) and hop on the 304 to “Ballycummin (Opp Clohessys Bar) – Stables University of Limerick” and disembark at University of Limerick (Bus Stop for Dromoe) and it’s just 4 minutes stroll from there.
