St Fagans National Museum of History

One of Wales’ most popular attractions, St Fagans National Museum of History explores the history of Welsh architecture, culture, and lifestyles. Located on the grounds of the St Fagans Castle and gardens, dating back to the 16th century, you can really take a step back in time and explore the history through people’s everyday lives. Take a picnic and enjoy the day exploring the grounds and learning all about how Welsh lives have changed throughout the years.

You can spend the day exploring some (or all) of the 40 plus historic buildings on site which have been re-erected from around Wales since 1948. You can also visit the many workshops where craftsmen bring St Fagans to life with traditional crafts and activities.  Some of the products made on site are usually available to buy and take home as a souvenir.  St Fagans also has native breeds of livestock living in the fields and farmyards where there are demonstrations of farming tasks throughout the week. There is also woodland around the grounds where you can learn about nature. A fun and educational day out for all the family, whatever the weather.

St Fagans is easily accessible by car via the A4232 about 25 minutes from Clayton Hotel Cardiff, it is also accessible by public transport a short walk from the hotel.
