Hotels near Skerries Mills

The mills at Skerries have been producing flour since the 12th century at the same location. The fully restored complex brings the five-sail windmill, four-sail windmill, water mill and bakery back to life yet still retains it’s 1800 roots.

The collection was originally set-up in the early 16th century when the lands belonged to the Priory of Holmpatrick. Milling continued at the site into the 20th century when an additional bakery was setup to produce breads and confectionary all the way up until the mid-1980s.

Following a 10-year restoration project in conjunction with Fingal County Council, the facility is now open to visitors for daily guided tours. Try your skills at grinding, observe how the waterwheel works and stroll through the corn fields.

After you’ve finished your tour, be sure to visit the Watermill Café to trial some of the produce.
