Kilmainham Gaol
If for no other reason, Kilmainham Gaol would be remarkable for being the biggest unoccupied gaol in these islands. However it is the political and military leaders of Irish independence such as Robert Emmet, Charles Stewart Parnell, the 1916 Rising leaders and Eamon de Valera who were imprisoned, and often executed, here that Kilmainham Gaol is most famous.
Step inside for a dramatic and realistic insight into what it was like to have been confined in one of these forbidding bastions of punishment and correction and for an insight into one of the most profound, disturbing and inspirational times of modern Irish history.
