Discover the history of Dublin Castle

Located just off Dame Street, the historical building has stood since 1230. From then until 1922 Dublin Castle was the seat of the English government, and is now a major Irish government complex. Dublin Castle has witnessed some crucial events in Irish history including each presidential inauguration since the formation of the state.

Amongst the Georgian courtyard of the Castle’s grounds stands a centrepiece; The Bedford Tower of 1761. This is where the Irish Crown Jewels were stolen in 1907.

Dublin Castle is just a 20 minute walk or a 12-minute journey on public transport from Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane.
