The former Manchester shipping docks have experienced something of a renaissance in recent years, the once busy industrial site now offers a tranquil waterside setting and offers a range of cultural and commercial activities.
The Lowry Outlet Mall is a small shopping centre with discount designer shopping from Molten Brown, Gap, Marks and Spencer and more. Opposite is The Lowry Exhibition centre, combining art galleries with two theatres. There is a permanent exhibition of the work of L.S Lowry showcasing a vast collection of his art which is free of charge to view. There is always a temporary exhibition too, this can range from modern to classical artwork. Entry to view the gallery is free of charge.
The impressive Imperial War Museum North, on the opposite side of the water is housed in a landmark building. It was designed to symbolize the results of war, as a globe fragmented by a shard representing conflict. Internally the displays are equally as impressive and moving. Admission to the Imperial War Museum North is free of charge.
Getting to Salford Quays and MediaCity and Media City is easy. Catch the Metrolink tram from Manchester Airport Station, changing at Cornbrook to MadiaCity. The airport station is opposite and we offer complimentary shuttle bus transfer to and from our hotel.
