The Armagh Observatory and Planetarium
The Armagh Observatory and Planetarium is one of Armagh’s main attractions. The Observatory, established in 1790, is still conducting scientific research and trying to answer the Universe’s biggest questions. The Planetarium was opened in 1968 and boasts a state-of-the-art digital theatre where you can relax and view the wonders of the cosmos.
We recommend a two-hour stay in the Planetarium, where you can watch a theatre show, have a cup of tea or coffee in the café, and explore the exhibition area at your own pace. Shows in the digital theatre can be booked online.
Part of a group and looking for something different? You can book a private tour of the Observatory facility. These tours must be booked in advance of the visit. If no booking has been made, access to the Observatory is restricted.
