1. Welcome

Located along Dublin’s picturesque Grand Canal, Clayton Hotel Charlemont blends contemporary design with warm Irish hospitality. Our commitment to inclusion is embedded in the way we design our spaces, welcome our guests and deliver our service. 

We follow Universal Design principles and work with Mobility Mojo to ensure that all guests can enjoy a seamless and comfortable experience — from arrival and check-in to dining, relaxation and overnight stay.

3. Arrival & Location 

By Car

  •  Our hotel is 1km south of St Stephens Green. Please use Eircode D02 H9C1 for directions to our location on Charlemont Street, overlooking the Grand Canal.
  • We have a carpark with limited availability and two designated accessible parking spaces provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. For all other car park spaces, valet parking is available at a rate of €29 per night (from 3:00pm to 11:00am). A dedicated set-down area for valet parking is located directly outside the main entrance.
  • Please make sure to book your parking in advance to avoid disappointment. We also recommend contacting the hotel when nearby so our team can be ready to assist upon arrival if required. 

By Air 

Clayton Hotel Charlemont is approximately 15.5km from Dublin Airport and takes about 30 minutes by car. There are two bus options from Dublin Airport to the hotel: 

  • Air coach (Route 700 Leopardstown/Sandyford): This bus runs every 15 minutes and costs €9 one way or €13 per person return. The closest stop is Lower Leeson Street.
  • Dublin Bus (number 16): This bus runs every 15-20 minutes and costs about €3.30 one way. The closest bus stop to the hotel is Kelly’s Corner (Harrington St.).

By Luas 

  • The hotel is located a close to Charlemont Luas station which is served by the Green Luas (tram) line.
  • The green line connects the south side of the city from Cherrywood, Sandyford Industrial Estate, Dundrum shopping centre, Ranelagh right through to the city centre at St. Stephen’s Green, Grafton Street, then to the north of the city linking O’Connell Street and GPO.
  • If coming from Connolly station/ O’Connell Street, guests can get the Green Line Luas from the Marlborough Street Luas Stop.

The main entrance is step-free and complemented by an alternative accessible entrance. Automatic doors provide ease of access, with a generous 120cm entrance width. Reception features a lowered counter section and an induction loop system to support guests who are deaf or hard of hearing.

7. Accessible Bedrooms

Clayton Hotel Charlemont offers 11 fully accessible bedrooms, including 4 interconnecting rooms and 2 rooms with a double and single bed. Accessible rooms are available on the ground floor, if requested. These rooms are designed to support comfort, safety and independence.

9. Dining & Social Spaces

At Clayton Hotel Charlemont, our public spaces are designed to be both welcoming and flexible, offering a variety of environments to suit different preferences throughout the day.

Gaudens Restaurant 

Gaudens Restaurant is fully accessible via step-free routes from reception. Table spacing supports wheelchair manoeuvrability and quieter seating can be arranged on request. Our culinary team caters for a wide range of dietary requirements; please inform us in advance so we can best support your needs.

Lockside Bar 

Lockside Bar is accessible and offers relaxed seating with canal-side views. Accessible routes are available throughout the bar area.

Lobby & Relaxation Spaces 

Our spacious lobby area offers a variety of seating options designed to accommodate different comfort preferences. Guests can choose from: 

  • Open lounge seating
  • Smaller, more private seating areas
  • Softer armchair arrangements
  • Spaces suitable for informal meetings or quiet relaxation

Furniture layouts allow for wheelchair manoeuvrability, and staff are happy to assist with rearranging seating where required. 

The lobby provides a bright, welcoming environment and acts as a natural gathering space for guests throughout the day.

Enclosed Lower Atrium 

Directly opposite reception, our enclosed lower atrium offers an additional relaxation space. The atrium is accessible via lift and provides step-free access throughout. This unique space features: 

  • Comfortable seating
  • Natural light
  • Views of the surrounding Georgian buildings
  • A calm, enclosed atmosphere 

The atrium offers a quieter alternative to the main lobby and is suitable for guests who prefer a more relaxed environment while still enjoying the architectural character of the area.

10. Assistance Dogs

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome. Water bowls are available upon request and our team will be pleased to assist with their needs.

11. Safety & Staff Training

  • 24-hour guest assistance is available.
  • Emergency evacuation procedures are in place.
  • Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) can be arranged upon request.
  • All customer-facing staff receive disability awareness training.
