Forth Mountain

Situated just outside of Wexford town is Forth Mountain; a rock outcrop that sits at a height of 235 metres. Boasting 600-million-year-old rock, Forth Mountain is brimming with a unique history and played a central role in the 1798 rebellion.

The trail is about 10km in length. It starts off in the New Line car park, takes you past Carrigatinna Rock and towards Skeator Rock where you will experience breath-taking views of the Wexford coastline from Rosslare to Hook Head.

If you fancy it, you can continue along to the Tincurra trails where you can catch a simply stunning glimpse of Barnstown, the Blackstairs Mountains and all along the west of Wexford. When you make your way back down, make time for a well-deserved drink back at the hotel!

Carrickbyrne Hill

Carrickbyrne Hill offers four looped trails and some of the most breathtaking views of Mount Leinster, the Blackstairs and the surrounding countryside. With an 18km mix of forest trails, you can soak up the peace and tranquillity of the stunning mountain views. Starting from the main entrance, choose from various levels of trails including the purple trail which offers a challenging longer woodland trail for more athletic walkers.

Lacken Hill

Once home to the former President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, New Ross is situated on the banks of the River Barrow and chockful of fascinating history and scenic walks; one of the most popular being Lacken Hill which is just a few minutes outside of New Ross town.

There are four walking trails in Lacken Hill so if you prefer a short stroll rather than a slightly longer ramble; there are a number of charming, winding trails to take your pick from. No matter the trail you choose, rich wildlife and charming country roads are guaranteed to surround you along the way. If you make it to the top of the hill summit, sweeping views of the southeast of Wexford await you.

Rosslare Harbour

The clifftop trail at Rosslare Harbour is a linear route 3.5km long. Taking about 30 minutes, the trail is an easy route and ideal for all levels of walkers. Take in the beautiful coastline views with sandy beaches below. If you prefer to explore the historic town, there is also a village trail, 2.87km long where you can soak up the maritime town.

Raven Point Wexford

Raven Point Woods sits just north of Wexford town and sits just behind one of the most visited beaches in Ireland: Curracloe beach. This wood is a nature reserve and is home to a variety of walking trails: from woodland to beach walks.

Start off at Raven Wood carpark and take a relaxing wander along the forest path which is bursting with beautiful flora and fauna; make sure to keep an eye out for the wildlife too – including red squirrels and grey seals.

Tintern Abbey

Once a Cistercian abbey, Tintern Abbey was founded in 1200 and was even the inspiration behind one of the great William Wordsworth’s poems. The ruins of the abbey now remain which visitors can see during one of the numerous walking trails.

Tintern Abbey Wexford is located just near the town of New Ross and the walking trails all begin from the trailhead at Tintern Abbey. Each looped walk boasts years of stunning surroundings and fascinating historical monuments: think Irish countryside views, distinct ancient history and spectacular scenery.
