Liverpool

20-minute drive from hotel

The famous port city of Liverpool, reached in under 25 minutes by car or 1 hour by train, makes for an excellent day trip from Manchester. Not only are the local Liverpudlians extremely welcoming, the city is also a brilliant place to explore with plenty to see and do.

The city of course, is the birthplace of The Beatles. Make sure to go on the Beatles tour to see iconic landmarks such as Penny Lane and The Cavern Club, the venue where the bands path to fame first began. Explore the historical Royal Albert Dock area, where you will find many attractions such as Tate Liverpool and The International Slavery Museum. You can also take a tour of Anfield stadium, the home of one of the world’s most successful football clubs, Liverpool FC.

The city is also well renowned for its excellent selection of restaurants and bars, so you can grab a delicious bite to eat before returning to the hotel for the evening.

York

1 hour and 30-minute drive from hotel

With Roman roots and a Viking past the walled city of York is a perfect day out for all history lovers. This cultural hub is only a 1 hour and 30-minute drive away from the hotel, making it well in reach. The most iconic landmark of York is York Minster, a huge 13th century gothic cathedral.

A walk along The Shambles is a must do! The Shambles is one of the UK’s most historic streets, famous for its 14th and 15th century homes and storefronts. The street is said to be a big inspiration for Diagon Alley from the Harry Potter series.

The National Railway Museum is also located in York and is home to over 300 years of railway history and 1-million train related artefacts.

 Lake District

1 hour and 30 minutes’ drive from hotel

Easily one of the UK’s most beautiful places, the Lake District is truly an amazing day out. Located just 1 and a half hours drive from the hotel, the Lake District is famous for its breath-taking lakes, soaring mountains and beautiful rugged countryside.

You can take part in many exhilarating activities in the Lake District, including climbing, kayaking, canoeing, biking and lots more. Boating tours are also available on many of the area’s lakes including Windermere, England’s largest lake.

Good walking shoes are a must in order to best experience the many walking trails the Lake District has to offer. There is also plenty of picnic areas available, allowing you to re-fuel while you take in the stunning views.

Blackpool

1 hour and 5-minute drive from hotel

The iconic town of Blackpool is one of the UK’s favourite holiday resorts attracting millions of visitors each year. This famous seaside town can be reached in just over an hour from the hotel by car.

The main highlight of a day out to Blackpool is undoubtedly a visit to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The park is home to 10 thrilling rollercoasters, including the Big One which is the UK’s tallest rollercoaster at 235ft.

Blackpool Tower offers stunning panoramic views of the whole of Blackpool while also being the home to many attractions including the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, the Blackpool Tower Dungeons and the Blackpool Tower Circus. Grab a bag of fresh fish and chips and take a walk along the beach before returning to the hotel for a good night’s sleep.

Peak District

35-minute drive from hotel

The Peak District is a stunning National Park in an upland area of England at the southern end of the Pennines. Situated a short 35-minute drive from the hotel, the Peak District is famous for its dramatic landscape which spans 555 square miles across 5 counties.

The park is broken up into two sections the White Peak and the Dark Peak, with both locations containing many fascinating areas of natural landscape. The steep limestone valleys of Dovedale, in White Peak, with their famous stepping stones is a must see. In the Dark Peak, Kinder Scout is the highlight. Kinder Scout is a moorland plateau standing at 636 metres, making it the Peak Districts highest point.

We recommend visiting one of the charming villages surrounding the Peak District such as Edale or the spa town of Buxton. Edale is a great village to visit and is also the start of the iconic walking path known as the Pennine Way.

Delamare Forest

40-minute drive from hotel

Delamare Forest is the perfect location to escape the noise of the city and to be at one with nature. Delamare Forrest is a massive forest located in Cheshire, and is home to many activities which allow visitors to truly experience what the great outdoors has to offer.

A day may not be enough time to experience the abundance of activities Delaware Forest has to offer. Embark on one of three walking trails available or rent a bike and take on the challenge of one of the areas cycling routes. If that’s not enough orienteering courses are available, while you can also uniquely explore the forest by renting a Segway. Go Ape! an outdoor adventure centre is also onsite, offering even more exhilarating activities.

Delamare is easily accessible, situated just a 40-minute drive from the hotel, while the area has its very own train station.
