Sustainability Statement

Living Green Initiatives

Below are just a few of the initiatives that we have implemented to reduce our impact on the environment:

  • Linen & towel reuse program offering guests the option to reuse their linens and towels more than once. When guests participate the hotel reduces the use of water, energy, and detergent.
  • In a bid to reduce our use of single-use plastics, we have replaced all the miniature toiletries in bathrooms with large Anyah products. The Eco-labelled body wash is formulated with essentials and active ingredients. The bottle is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic.
  •  The interior lighting within the hotel has been changed to LED and in many areas such as the gym and offices is on sensors.
  • Digital information has replaced printed materials throughout the hotel wherever possible such as QR codes with digital menus and online guest information.
  • Green Meeting: All of our meeting rooms have natural daylight saving on energy consumption. We offer still and sparkling water in reusable glass bottles along with ceramic mugs, glasses, and reusable cutlery rather than disposable plastic cups.
  • Go Digital: our rooms offer FREE wifi and HD projector screens so you can cut down on printed materials.
  • Environmental Dining: We use local suppliers and seasonal food including sourcing information on the menus. Like-wise, plant-based and vegan options feature significantly.
  • Within the hotel grounds, we planted a kitchen herb garden, a log habitat, and a wildflower area.
  • The hotel is involved in numerous charitable endeavours from sponsoring a Tiger with WWF, raising money year-round for Great Ormond Street Hospital to providing free school meals in holidays, and staff volunteering at local homeless shelters.
  • There are 6 electric charging points at the hotel entrance, we offer complimentary transfers to and from the train and tram station to ensure accessing the hotel by public transport by staff and guests is as easy as possible. Team members and are encouraged to travel to work by means of public transportation or cycle and offer the cycle to work scheme.
  • We have a Green Committee that meets on a regular basis to discuss environmental improvements that can be made within the business.
  • Sustainable Bedrooms We’ve updated all our bedrooms with shower and tap aerators to reduce water consumption. New hybrid AC in bedrooms conserves energy use.

Environment, Energy Management & Emissions

We recognize the importance of managing and reducing our energy and Greenhouse Gas emissions across our business. To this end, we have an active program of measurement and reporting our perfor-mance in these areas across all our properties.

We report on our Climate Change strategy and performance to the global best-practice environmental reporting framework, CDP.

Water

Water is a critical resource, and we understand our responsibility to engage in conservation projects; we have implemented these across the property. Glass bottles are used in all our meeting rooms, bars and restaurants to reduce our plastic and water usage.

Waste

Removing single-use plastics from all aspects of our business is the primary waste reduction goal of Clayton Hotel Manchester Airport. Efforts already made include the elimination of plastic straws from use in all outlets, and replacing them with paper, compostable versions.

The Future

At Clayton Hotel Manchester Airport, we are committed to continuing our efforts in reducing our environmental impact. If you have any recommendations or would like to know more please contact us.
