    8 Fun Things to do in Dublin with Kids

    As part of our Green Irish Road Trip campaign we gave one lucky family the chance to travel across Ireland and enjoy the best sustainably driven activities.     1. Olly’s Farm

    If you’re looking for something different to do with the Kids in Dublin. A visit to Olly’s Honey Farm is a perfect choice. Spend a few hours with Olly on his beekeeper experience, located in the Dublin mountains. You will discover first-hand how honey is made with an interactive visit to the hives. Picking up industry secrets on how beekeepers interact with their bees. Finish off your visit with a tasting experience of some of the finest award-winning flavours from Olly’s farm.

    2. City Kayaking

    Dublin city Kayaking experience is set in an incredible location in Dublin city. They offer guided tours down the river Liffey. Giving you the chance to paddle under the historical O’Connell and Ha’penny Bridge. Paddle to the heart of the city in a double or triple kayak. Led by expert local guides to give you an insight into the historic landmarks of Dublin.

    3. Greenan Maze

    Plan a relaxed outdoor experience with the family at Greenan Maze. Get lost in their own ½-acre lush green maze. For some extra adventure, you and the little ones can take a wild nature walk along the Dragonfly walkway. With over 100 different species of trees to explore. You might even catch a sighting of some local Irish wildlife. The Greenan Maze also has its very own farm animals onsite and a cosy coffee shop to reenergize after all your outdoor adventures.

    4. CP Adventure

    For an exhilarating outdoor experience with the family get to CPA Adventure Centre. Only a 40-minute drive from the Clayton Hotel Leopardstown. CPA Adventure is packed full of exciting things to do for all ages. Choose between zip lines, archery, bungee trampolines, abseiling, paddle boarding, kayaking and much more. A day at the adventure centre is guaranteed to leave you and the kids with memorable experiences.

    5. Dublin Zoo

    Dublin Zoo is one of Ireland’s top tourist attractions and one of the world’s oldest, and still most popular zoos. The 28-hectare park is home to over 400 animals and with vast grounds to explore and lots of outdoor and indoor habitats housing your favourite animals. You can see elephants, sloths, tigers, hippos, wolves and lots more. Dublin Zoo is a unique place to see wildlife in the heart of Dublin city.  It takes a full day to see all the Zoo so it makes for an action-packed family day out.

    6. Powerscourt Garden & Powerscourt Waterfall

    Visit one of the most beautiful gardens in Ireland, Powerscourt Estate. Located in Enniskerry, County Wicklow. The estate is known for its spectacular landscaped gardens occupying a staggering 47 acres and is just a 20-minute drive from the hotel, so be sure to visit if you’re driving. Only 12km away from Clayton Hotel Leopardstown and offers spectacular views of Wicklow.

    About 6km from the main estate, Powerscourt Waterfall is Ireland’s highest at 398ft. It’s the ideal location for picnics and BBQs. There is a playground for younger children and plenty of space for kids to play.

    7. Airfield Estate

    Airfield Estate is an urban farm and garden as well as a food destination promoting local produce. You’ll see farm animals and enjoy a great family outing. It’s just a 10-minute drive or 2 minutes by LUAS to Airfield Estate when staying at the Clayton Hotel Leopardstown.

    8. Dalkey Castle

    Dalkey Castle is one of the seven fortified townhouses/castles of Dalkey. In Dalkey Castle, you will see a fine example of a barrel-vaulted ceiling and traces of the wickerwork that supported it. Niches have been exposed on the walls where precious goods may have been stored. The Castle is an integral entrance to both the Heritage Centre and Dalkey Town Hall.

    Dalkey Castle was called the Castle of Dalkey in the Middle Ages. Later, in the mid to late 1600s, it was called Goat Castle when the Cheevers family of Monkstown Castle were the owners.

    Dalkey is an urban oasis nestling on the east coast of Ireland just ten miles south of Dublin city. A warm welcoming atmosphere awaits you here. There are lots of open-air dining and picnic options and there are children’s playgrounds at Cuala GAA grounds and Killiney Hill.
