Discover Cobh

Cobh is a charming and historic natural harbour overlooked by the splendid St. Coleman’s Cathedral, located 18km or 20 minutes’ drive from the Clayton Hotel Silver Springs. Cobh is the second largest natural harbour in the world (after Sydney Harbour in Australia) and attracts approximately 60 cruise liners a year.

The Queenstown Story

Cobh is steeped in history which is expertly told in the Queenstown Story. Highlights include the haunting experiences of the approximately 2.5 million survivors of the Great Famine who emigrated from this port from 1848-1850.

Titanic Experience Cobh

Cobh was the final port of call for Titanic passengers in 1912. The Titanic Experience is very impressive and highly recommended but it’s standing on the same spot from where passengers were ferried to the waiting Titanic, never to return, that you will remember most.

Spike Island

Sitting low near the entrance to the harbour, Spike Island was the natural choice to build fortifications to protect the town and ships moored within. It has also served as a monastery, prison and convict depot. Catch the ferry from Cobh Harbour and either explore the Island yourselves or join one of the fantastic tours.

Getting To Cobh

Cobh is 20 minutes’ drive from Clayton Hotel Silver Springs. Free parking is available Cobh Heritage Centre and Cathedral car parks. During high season we recommend arriving early and booking tickets in advance.
